Welcome to a New Associate

WE would like to welcome our newest associate, Brian Counts.

His schedule starts as of September 12, 2023. The week of September 5th he will be taking appointments for a Get to Know you Call. Please contact the office for an appointmeny.

Here is a little about Brian:

There are moments in life that can seem overwhelming. In these moments all we want is relief, but our brains didn’t come with an instruction manual, and our problems are not easily seen. Often this kind of suffering feels like a lonely ordeal with only you to depend on and only you to get yourself out. My mission as a therapist is to provide a space where you are not alone, where you can safely explore your challenges, and charter a way past your suffering into healthy change. I would be honored to join you in this journey and help guide you with the proper tools and skills for long term solutions.

My therapeutic style focuses on three major areas of client experience. These being thoughts, value driven behavior, and emotional regulation. My experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) allows for a deeper understanding of the thoughts that form a pattern in your life as well as what values are important to you and can serve as a guide in what actions to take. Also, my training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) focuses on the emotional impact of situations and how these feels may be trapping you. In EFT the goal is to experience the past in a transformative way in which you have more control and can choose to move forward. In my experience the combination of these modalities has been effective in treating eating disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and life transitioning. I also have experience with disorders including ADHD and Autism.

I received my Bachelor of Science in General Psychology and Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Abilene Christian University. I am supervised by Jan C. Shope, M.A., LPC-S.
